Question by aeiou_i: Why is there no category in gymnastics according to different physical standards?
This creates that 1.5 meter 13 year olds (menstrual period not friendly) can only do these figures. What is the point of someone of average size and weight watching a mini performing something away of any standard, without an equal quality parallel?
Why are there no categories like in other competitive sports, in which there are absolute categories anyway. Shouldn?t this be a sport for everyone?
Leanna, I?m speaking in terms of promoting this ?activity into sport? as well.
The competitiveness of gymnastics is measured in such a way that there is no place for taller or heavier competitors, but there could perfectly be categories for that. If a child loves gymnastics and is gymnastically built but can not meet the standards of some acrobatics which could be done naturally by a 1.5 meter person, should that be the reason for that child to be non competitive?
