While the Mediterranean remains the main destination for cruise passengers outside Spain, the choice of potential routes is quite large, with more than 10 ports around the UK taking holidaymakers on tours of the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea, Norway, Iceland and Greenland, the Canary Islands, Transatlantic, the Caribbean, and into the east coast of the United States. Trips range from short two-night taster cruises to luxurious round the world cruises of over 100 nights.
Southampton is the busiest British port for cruise ships, with as many as 11 cruise lines offering routes launching from the UK. P&O Cruises has more than 130 departures booked in 2011 from their new state of the art ?19 million Ocean Terminal, which provides queue-free registration process, a spacious lounge and impressive observation deck. Streamlining the registration process means that you can be on board within 30 minutes of reaching the terminal, rather than stuck in a stifling queue in the airport.
