Jack Kevorkian passed away in a Detroit hospital after an illness at the age of 83.
Kevorkian, a retired pathologist who helped ill people commit suicide, died in a hospital in Detroit at age 83.
Kevorkian died at 2:30 a.m. at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Detroit after being hospitalized since last month of pneumonia and kidney problems.
Dr. Death hit the headlines in 1990 when he began using a homemade ?suicide machine? called the thanatron to help gravely ill people kill themselves between 1990 and 1999.
Kevorkian served eight years of a 10 to 25-year sentence for second-degree murder and was set free in June 2007.
Jack?s life story was documented in an HBO movie entitled ?You Don?t Know Jack?, which earned actor Al Pachino an Emmy and Golden Globe award.
